CrossFit improves 10 fundamental physical abilities
CrossFit improves 10 fundamental physical abilities that are common to all sports, enhancing adaptability:
-
Cardiovascular Endurance - the ability to take in, process, and transport oxygen within the body.
-
Stamina - the ability to take in energy, distribute it to various body parts, and store/utilize it.
-
Strength - the ability of muscles to exert force either individually or in combination.
-
Flexibility - the ability to move joints through their full range of motion.
-
Power - the ability of muscles to generate maximum force in minimal time, either individually or in combination.
-
Speed - the ability to minimize the time required for repetitive movements.
-
Coordination - the ability to combine different movement patterns into a specific action.
-
Agility - the ability to transition quickly from one movement pattern to another.
-
Balance - the ability to control the center of gravity relative to a base of support.
-
Accuracy - the ability to control the direction and intensity of movement.
Rather than focusing on training a specific area and performing long-duration aerobic exercises using traditional methods, CrossFit combines three elements: weightlifting (lifting weights such as barbells), gymnastics (bodyweight exercises like push-ups and pull-ups), and metabolic conditioning (running, rowing, etc.) in various combinations to improve overall fitness.
